It's the other way around, actually. If guts and glory mattered to me I'd have gunned for those Second and First Class promotions. They're still there if I want it, but I'm not keen on the idea of being torn from my mount and saddled with the responsibilities that come with the rank given that the pros and cons more or less remain the same regardless of my standing.
